Mommy - take Bunny and go home!

Well, the only teary-eyed Ely at preschool today was me! After our stop for a quick picture in front of the school, (greeted with "Mommy, can we go in yet?") we rushed in to class to their very first day of Pre-school. As this has been the primary motivation for potty-training, it feels like this moment has been a long time coming. Of course, this morning, getting 3 children out the door and to school by 8:10am, there wasn't a lot of time to sit around and reflect. We did start our day in prayer, being thankful that we could go to school and Drew ended it with "And please no accidents!" Unfortunately, in his rush to get inside, Drew fell down in the parking lot and scraped his knee. This actually turned out to be a good thing, because he became the very first pre-schooler to get a coveted band-aide. While others watched Mrs. Stephans put Drew's band-aide on his leg, a line of small children formed, all claiming to have various injuries requiring some form of first aid.
He was also the only child attacked by the dinosaur, but I think his brother was in cahoots with the T-rex there.
After the book bags were hung on the wall, Drew told me to take Bunny and go home! Of course, we couldn't leave without stopping by Granny Kathi's 1st grade class down the hall. Her class has heard lots about the boys and Bunny and greeted us warmly.
So, the boys scholastic journey has begun. Amazing to see how far these little preemies have come in such a short time!

Thanks for taking the pictures and posting them so quickly. I am just beaming looking at them and laughing over Drew's prayer for no accidents. This is the beginning of many wonderful days at school for them.

How wonderful to be able to read about this great milestone! As an almost-constant wearer of Band-Aids on knees, I salute Drew's continuation of a long family tradition. Did anyone else think it was sort of funny that the construction-paper letters on the classroom door say "Walk With God" at the precise moment that Drew is being attacked by a giant dinosaur? If ever a fella needed the Almighty to be at his side, that would be it!

Thanks for the great write-up and photos, Susan! It is all just TOO precious! I loved the prayer for no accidents (!!!), the need for a coveted band-aid, and being attacked by a plastic dinosaur, no less!! What a fabulous way to start my day, and it must have been every better for you! Now I can't wait to find out if there were actually no "accidents"!!!

A big day...way to go, A&N!

Fascinating that they were born about 3 blocks from this school. Indeed, Susan, the preemies have come a long, long way.

Thanks for the pix!!!

Wonderful stories and photos.... they say what is on their minds, don't they?? And I'm glad that Drew was hoping for no accidents! He may not have been the only one with that prayer (and some mothers as well!)

Thanks so much Susan for the smiles for today.
