Well, most of us weren't there, but we can still enjoy the festivities celebrating Berneice Abigail Ely's very first birthday! Happy birthday, Miss B!!
Here is one of Joe's photos of the young lady herself on her special day. Follow the link to Joe's Flickr account for some more adorable photos of Berneice, her proud parents and grandparents, her charming twin brothers, aunts and uncles, and various other persons of note.
Also check out Frank's Shutterfly photos for even more great views of the event.
Susan, the castle cake was a sight to behold!

The photos are great, and Baby B seems to be enjoying herself. One year old.. wow, she doesn't look a day over, what, 11 months.
The castle cake reminds me of the time I tried to build one when I was about 12 or 13. I got some measurements wrong, or some ingredients, so the final product looked the way a castle might look after the Vandals came through. I have a photo of it somewhere.
Maybe somebody should try making a cake shaped like a Lincoln log fort! You guys all had plenty of practice in the basement of the house on G Street...!
That's a good idea, Anne, although the Lincoln Log houses invariably wound up being destroyed by the giant Fred Flintstone doll...Fred had a recurring role as a vicious Japanese monster during our more creative playtime sessions.
I can make the Lincoln Log cake, but I will have to repress the urge to destroy it with a Fred.
I'm cracking up, as usual, John! Yes, you guys did tend to toss the giant Fred Flintstone down the stairs to destroy the Lincoln Log houses, didn't you? Ah, memories.
Yes, Fred had many "accidents" on those stairs. He also took several headers off the deck and into the back yard... and yet, he kept coming back for more.
Yabba dabba doo!
